Default Tax return/Centrelink Family Assistance?

Hi
We are nearing the end of the Tax year here. Does anyone know how they work out your Family Assistance for the year when you arrive after the beginning of the tax year? We arrived in September 2009. I have grossly, deliberately, overestimated my income for this year AND declined fortnightly payments in favour of a Post Tax return claim for Family Assist.
Anyone any idea how it works out? Do we get assessed on what proportion of the year we spent in Oz? I hear it based on the whole year but are NOT interested in what we earned in the UK (which is unlike the UK who take Oz income into account....)
Anyway...I am getting excited waiting 'cos it has been hard scrimping to get by knowing we were 'saving' the Family Assist bit.
HKA
PS No Scrounger comments please!!

Centrelink DO take account of your UK income when calculating Family benefits.

ATO do NOT take account of your UK income when working out tax.
