Default tax assessment on emigration

I was just wondering with emigrating to Melbourne in April/May 2007 is it worth paying say £500 pounds to someone who is in the no about tax and supp ann in Australia or is it better just to take a lump sum over there and put it in the bank for when you buy a house?

what are the draw backs about transferring an NHS pension to Ozzie anybody been in this situation and if so any free advise appreciated.:scared:
