What are people doing for New Years Eve ? Are there any big fireworks events held on the Island?

Depending on the weather new years day we might make it a beach day, not sure yet. But a quiet one for us I'm afraid.
We prefered the Taste of Huon for us, simply because it was more child friendly for Alex, Taste of Tassie was very crowded last year, Alex just grumbled the whole time.
I really don't know about fireworks displays for New Years, I know they go mad on Australia day though. I would imagine they would do something in Hobart though.

Weather has been changable as usual, mostly sunny days though. But we've had a lot of wind lately, I had to take down my hanging baskets yesterday and Alex's trampoline nearly blew away!! Christmas day was wonderful though, a lovely sunny day, and boxing day was quite hot too, we had a lovely barbie.

I'd heard that it was quite windy for the time of year and that there'd been some rain in the North? not sure if you got it too?
Hope you get to spend the day at the beach NY's day. What beach would you go to from where you're located? What's your favourite?

I agree Kezza Taste of Huon so much better and child friendly will be missing it this year, but will make a date with you for the next one!!! he he.

Is baby Bishop no.4 overdue or was you given an early arrival date?
I hope you had a nice christmas anyway - despite missing out on your wine and Baileys!
Good luck for when the baby comes!
Happy New Year to you all...

Hi Kerry, glad you had nice weather for Christmas Day and Boxing Day. It was surprisingly mild over here those two days but the temperature has dropped again so it's a bit chilly now!

And to answer your previous question, Yes they are having a family friendly firework display in Hobart on the water front. The sale of alcohol on the water front is banned from 3pm onwards to ensure a trouble free water front for families, so that's pretty good. They kick off at 9.30pm, unfortunately our little monster is usually in bed by 8pm I really don't think he will stay awake until 9.30pm.

Re: Tasmania (continued!)
Well the weather is very disappointing, very chilly and windy, much cooler than last year Our absolute favourite beach is Orford, it's very peaceful there and the beach is great. But our nearest beach would be Howrah, it's ok but we prefer the quietness of Orford I think it's called Spring Beach. But there is a lovely beach at Blackmans Bay and also at Kingston. We are spoilt for choice really. We just need some warm weather to enjoy them.

Hope it gets nice and warm soon so that you can enjoy the beaches. We liked Kingston, Blackmans Bay and Howrah beach when we were over last year....Not seen Orford - will have a look in a minute to see where that is in location to the others..
Shame things are starting quite late tonight for the fireworks in Hobart - but i guess they have to start late so that everyone stays till midnight!!! My two would be the same - they'd struggle to stay awake that late (unless we pumped them full of sweets or sugary drinks - but then they'd be hyper! ). Still not sure what we're doing later - but i need to work 4&1/2 hours today anyway - so wont be home till about 6pm so we'll probably decide then. Have a couple of options but if we dont fancy any of them we'll just stay in...
Have a great evening whatever you're doing!
Happy New Year to everyone - may all your dreams come true!
take care
