Re: Tasmania??
[QUOTE=Dom the Pom;5684792]The thread is entitled Tasmania??
So if you 'dont want to hear it,' on an open forum, then p!ss off to another thread. actually i think thats what you need to go and do, and stop annoying everyone. |

I'm answering the OP's question without the rose tinted spectacles you and the other dense people who have chosen Taz must have glued to your thick skulls.
Hey, is there any need to be rude? This often occurs on the forum after you've struck a nerve with somebody. It's an instinctive natural response, to defend a decision that, deep down inside, they have grave doubts about. Tasmania is a very dramatic and beautiful place. But to migrate there from England for anything other than if you have family settled there is pure dream land. |
Re: Tasmania??
Can we please stick to the topic? Some people like Perth, some like Tassie, some like neither. Everyone has their own reasons for heading to the different parts of Australia. No harm in a bit of realism, but please don't be to negative about the choices others have made.
A well worn phrase, but worth repeating - "don't criticise a man until you have wlaked a mile in his shoes" And after all that, if you can't agree, or at least debate nicely, can you please just ignore each other and quit rising to the bait ;) Thanks. |

I have read back over the thread and i apologise if you think it was I being rude in the first place, but sorry you havent struck a nerve, i just dont see what the downer is on Tas from your point of view. Why is it pure dreamland, do you feel that people cant settle there unless they have family there already ? This is a genuine question x |
Re: Tasmania??
WOW......and I thought I got bad PMT!!!!
We couldn't decide between Perth and Tas for months..............then Tas won when I read a thread about the amount of pollutants being pumped into the air from Rockingham up  We were going to live in Kwinana too, but the Government have admitted the pollution and stated that's why the cancer rate had gone up in those areas!!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PM7QA30JEik Tas maybe harder to get to, have less sun etc.........but at least me and my family will be much happier and toxic free there!!! Tas Rocks!!!!!! Beth x x  |

So you decided to base a potentially life shattering upheaval on a 'summer visit' to Oz have you?
As the moderator has since said - you do not know any of us posters on this site, our situation in life or our dreams/ambitions - so to say that we are all about to move a "life shattering upheaval" makes me want to laugh.... Maybe you can leave all of us genuinely happy to thinking about Tas people alone to come to our own conclusions on the place....and if any of us make a mistake in choosing the place - then that's life! |

Re: Tasmania??
Any advice on suburbs around Hobart? We will hopefully be working at the Royal Hobart hospital but dont mind up to 30 minute commute. A beach suburb would be ideal with a primary school. Our budget will be fairly tight so max of $300 a week in rent (im hoping we can get 2/3 bed + garden). Is this realistic?
Thanks! |

Thanks! Here is the search results for some rentals in Hobart - sound's like you should look for Kingston or Blackman's Bay areas if you want Beach. Sandy Bay has a beach too - don't know how nice it is having never been to it. http://www.realestate.com.au/cgi-bin...at=&p=10&o=def |

Well said, if you havent got anything good to say then dont bother, we dont want to hear it, if we did we would be on another thread. (where you should be). Oh and the last time i was in Scotland, i dont recall there being much sunshine, whereas Tas on the other hand has plenty of it at the moment.
