Cape Grim's population of 12 might give it a slightly unfair advantage over the the rest of Tassie tho :D

Tasmania is a beautiful place but whats all this about the cleanest air in the world  have you seen Hobart, Launceston whatever in winter the smoke from a 50,000 log fires does not make pure air. Also Doesn't tassie have some problem with a huge hole in the ozone layer or do their eco tours have that wrong:confused:

But yes stunning looking forestry and beaches.
re the clean air lYou've obviously never been to Sheffield England mate :(
but yep your right about the ozone layer tas is under a big hole in it but then again everywhere will be one day

One of my lasting memories of my wonderful times in Tassie is the fact that I was always healthier there. Back to dear old Brighton(the UK one), take a deep breath and promptly cough and splutter. In Tassie I always feel that I can breathe. I remember clearly standing at the airport, taking a deep breath and inhaling the oxygen, mixed with the scent of eucalyptus.
keep on like this I shall be on the next plane....!!!:D

the Air in Tasmania

The prevailing winds that blow across Tasmania would previously have blown over Patagonia, at the bottom of Argentina . . . . some 8,000 miles of being purified by the Oceans.
If that ain't "clean" . . . what is???

Also, loads of people 'bag' Australia and the fact that it has a dangerous sun that fries.
When I first came to this country, we could lie on the beaches all weekend and enjoy. Since then, the scientists and medicos now say we have to cover up and get in the shade because the CFC's have eaten up the particles of ozone high up in the stratosphere that previously stopped most of the harmful sun's rays from penetrating Earth.
And where do most of these damaging CFC's come from??
You guessed it . . . . the Northern Hemisphere.

Thank you England, Europe and America!

Re: the Air in Tasmania

Last I heard they're now saying that sun *in moderation* on balance may be good for you.

Apparently they've discovered that the rates for diseases like multiple sclerosis are a lot lower in Queensland compared to Victoria or Tasmania. Despite the rate of skin cancer being higher ...
