Why?

We lived in Wales - Bridgend. If you take a glass of water to bed with you and try to drink it at 3:00am it tastes like TCP, disgusting. Only drink bottled water now.

Just because Carlton Draught comes out of a tap, it doesn't make it water ;)

how good is the tapwater , where you live , in Oz ?

Well I have been drinking it for 2.5 weeks now and I am still walking and talking. It is not the nicest taste but I used to filter my water in London and don't think I will have to bother here.

Seriously though, isn't bottled water something like 2 years old? There was some report on it recently saying how bad it is for the enviro and that it's old or something

Oh God,here I go again, LOL!

The tap water is safe here, as safe as the UK (you'll always get the odd health scare occassionally). In our flat it tastes vile, so I drink bottled water as we don't have a filter tap, but I use the tap water for squash, cooking etc, bottled is only for drinking pure water.

Bottled water, due to being "mineral water", isn't subject to the same stringent health checks and legislation as tap water. Which means that tap water is safer. However, the chemicals used to make it safer sometimes make it taste, well, less good! The main reason bottled water is bad for the environment is all those bottles - landfills full of small plastic bottles, streets littered with them, and don't get me started on what the side of the roads in the Australian outback look like!

And yes, beer is 95% water!
