- as soon as you can, (if your pet is not up to date with it`s vaccinations) the pet has to have injections for this that and the other... but NOT `LeptoSpirosis`. DO NOT get that jab, as it WILL delay the pet and cost you alot of extra time/hassle/money. You also need to get some flea stuff done (probably `Frontal`) by the vet. All this will be put into your vaccination card and signed by the vet.
- Less than 1 month before your pet flies out (27 days is better, to allow for flight delays), take your pet back to the vet to get the blood tests done. This is expensive, as it`s about £100 just for the lab tests. The vet will complete the necessary forms to be sent to DEFRA etc. You`ll get the results back in a week or so... hopefully clear.
- less than 4 days before the flight, the pet has to be wormed and flead by the vet.
- on the day of the flight, your pet will be inspected by a vet at the airport, and then sealed into it`s container. It`s better to fly on a day when the next day will be a weekday in Aus and during normal working hours (although they will still pick up your pet after hours to take into quarantine).
- Quarantine from the UK is 30 days. Your pet will only be allowed visits from the people named as the importers on your permit application, so make sure you name friends or family if you can`t get there yourself. In our case we won`t be there until a few days before his quarantine ends, so we`ve put our parents on the form as well so they can visit while we`re not there.
You`ll have to pay the quarantine ppl a fair bit of $`s.

She is due boosters now including Lepto so I will ask the vet not to give her that one - will she be allright for 6 months though in the UK without it?
Will the other booster vac be ok? I gather I can get all the other vaccinations done (except Lepto) nearer the time ie. when we have our visa and flights booked etc.
She is already microchipped and we frontline and Drontal (worm) her regularly.
Do you think this is OK?

sorry didn`t see this post for a long time.
If I were you, I wouldn`t bother with the boosters at all this time, as they`ll need to be done again a month before your dog goes.
But I`m not an expert, so I`d send an e-mail to Bill asking for a quote and asking about the vaccs. E-mail may be better as he talks alot on the phone
Our dog has been in Oz for a couple of weeks now, and getting regular 2 hr visits from the in-laws
