Taking the car home for personal use in the UK.
Hi. Just wondering, we have a car, we like it, know its history from new, 50,000 km’s on the clock.
We would love to take it back to the UK with us. It was registered/year of manufacture 2006, so it will be over ten years old by thetime we maybe take it back to the UK. We do not intend to sell it, only use it in the UK.
Can i ask has anyone shipped a car back home, if so, what is the best company to use? What are the shipping and customs costs? Then when on UK soil, how do you go about registration and MOT’s etc. Is it really complicated,or relatively easy? Cost when new $16k, we could probably get $7k for it herein Oz. Like for like in the UK, 4000 British Sterling from a garage in Taunton.
Sentimental value, would it cost more than $2000 to get it home and on the road in the UK?
Thanks.

I'm sure it would cost more than $2000 just to get it back to UK. Plus clearance charges, plus single vehicle inspection to confirm it can be used in UK, plus MOT.
£4000 seems a heck of a lot for a 10 year old car, unless it's one of the exotics or something like a Rolls royce. I notice your name is blackcab. Is that a clue to the vehicle? If so, plenty of blackcabs for sale for less than £4000.
Others will be along with better info on costs etc but based on the info you've given I would just sell it in OZ before you leave.
