TO TAKE OR NOT TO TAKE?
WE ARE NOT SURE WHAT TO TAKE.
we have a relo package of $9800 to either ship our stuff or replace it when we get to perth.
should we ship it all, ship so or just get replacements?
all are furnature was not new, we have been given it over the years, the only things we bough new were the washing machine [5 yrs old ] dish washer [still new] and the tumble dryer.
we dont need to buy things new, we would be happy getting some things second hand.
also would our electricals work over there?
and could we set up home with this amount of money?

thanks

Rosie,
There's a few threads about with people's move costs attached, one of the more comprehensive ones I spotted here - http://britishexpats.com/forum/showthread.php?t=494225
OK, they are moving from Canada but the attachment has home set up costs on it.

Electricals will work, same voltage. We brought everything but then we hate shopping. If you're not attached to your stuff and it's not in great nick then leave it and start afresh. You should be able to get a fair amount with that money if you shop around.

Re: TO TAKE OR NOT TO TAKE?
Not wishing to hijack the thread but two related questions:
- Do British TVs pick up Australian broadcast signals? - It's all well and good the unit working electrically but can they pick up signals?
- Is it simply a case of fitting Australian plugs to British appliances or do you need something like a surge protector (no fuses), etc?
Cheers
