Default Take away

Hi,

Sorry if this is a silly question. But are there take-aways in Australia? (I have never been to australia so I am completely blank). I have my take-aways in the UK every other night, so just wondered if there are no take-aways, what are the other options apart from cooking at home?

Australia's not that backward, well, maybe in the back blocks of Gympie. Yes we do have takeaway of every kind, virtually on every corner.

Great, thanks for that. Say, a Chinese meal for one, I don't know, Pork & pepper in black bean sauce, how much is it approximately?

Most meat dishes in all the Chinese/Thai/Indian takeaways around here are around the $10-12 mark plus a couple of dollars for a small rice. Usually a bit extra for prawns, seafood or duck. You could certainly get well fed for $15.

Absolute price wise, it looks the same about £5-£7, but considering less wage in OZ, it is quite expensive I must say. I thought given that so many Asian immigrants there the quality of food would be a lot better than that in the UK.

The chinese take away is pants copared to Wales!!! Its far to freshly cooked and prepared!! Veggies in a chinese curry - unheard of at home!!

And in my opinion its much more expensive here - probably to do with the fact its fresher, healthier etc!!

Might it be the case that the chinese in Oz is actually closer to the authentic? The chinese in the UK is crap and bears no relation what so ever to the real thing. For example, how much chicken is used - well in three months living in China i didnt see chicken once. Nor did i see curry.

There is takeaway, of every description, and ethnic origin.. as Bloke said..

But dont expect the same levels of service regarding delivery.

Pizzas I find are bland.
Chinese I find is bland.
Indian I find is bland.

In fact we need an injection of spice into most Aussie foods.

Crunching into PINEAPPLE or BEETROOT during a takeaway is bloody annoying... and so are bleeding monkey nuts in your chinese.

However, it takes a while but you can find a bloody good chinese and indian restaurant. Took us 4 years !!!!

Oh and Thai food is IMO the crappest baby processed yoghurty shite ever invented , for people with a calcium defficeiencys, and false teeth !!

The food at our local Indian's is very bland. Even the hottest dishes taste just like meat in bisto gravy.

I have to say that the Thai food is very good, I never really had it in the UK, but defo prefer it to the local Indian.

We have had some quite good Italians too.

But if you go to the right place you can't beat the Oz steaks and sea food - so fresh.

What I hate most - the KFC's that kill the fries/chips with that bloody chicken salt.
