Hello Everyone,
I am writing this with the biggest hangover I have had for quite a while. I tried to let you all know yesterday but our system was down.
On monday morning we received notification that our Visa's for Oz had been granted
GET IN THERE!!!!!!!!
Now is the time for everything to go at 100mph as work need me out there for the start of June!!!!
I need one bit of advice if you dont mind, We are using Pickfords to move all our stuff however there insurance is 3.5%. Does anyone know of a cheaper but professional and reputable insurance company?
Your help is much appreciated and it has been a joy speaking to you all. Hopefully one day we can meet up with some of you in Sydney and enjoy a few beers
Thanks
Chris

Not quite sure yet. We have been looking at the Hills District. We have a guy working here from Sydney and he has told me it is a very nice family like area with plenty to do for families and kids and nice big houses.
My offices are in Flemington, which is near Homebush and I have been told that it should take me 20-30 mins to get to work. Which i dont think is to bad.
The company are putting me up for 4 weeks when I arrive so this will hopefully give me a chance to get my bearings and have a look around.
So what stage are you at mate?

oh ive been and done it, mooved a few weeks ago. our work is in the eastern burbs, so we settled in maroubra. we love it. ive been told a lot of nice things about the hills, but it was just too far away for us.
the best thing we did was get a hire car on the first day and drove. we looked at all the areas around our work. we even went across the water. it gives u a good idea where to live. the sooner u get out and about the better.
hope this helps

The places I am looking at are Castle Hill, Baulkham Hills, Cherrybrook and Bella Vista.
You can get a 4 bed house with loads of space and garden some with pool for around $400-500 per week.
good luck with your trip
Maybe meet up when we are there.

Cheers soapy, I've had a quick look at these b4 but it seems this area is a little on the high side for me. It's quite difficult to choose areas to look at as it's not always obvious what are good and bad areas and an areas reputation is not always a bad inreality, where we live we could tell people about things that have occured that would make people think it was a bit rough but we actually live in a nice quiet area, just got to make sure you lock the car

some of the things mentioned about the areas i posted can be true. all of these people have been here. but its the sane wherever u live. all u need to do is walk one block from the main drag and the whole place changes. its the same at the beaches, move a few streets away and u will love it. on, and keep asking people on here for areas to live. when u get here, hire the car and find out for yourself.
at first we were looking at sylvania waters. the place is lovely the houses to die for. it was about 35-40 mins from work. then i thought, i dint come here to sit in a car for nearly an hour every morn. so found an area a bit nearer work. 5 mins from work !
its magic, great for shoping, schools beaches and things for the kids to do. if u fancy a bus into the city it takes about 25-30 mins costs about £1.20. so i cant loose.
