Hey Folks,

Well, 'J'. J for jack all choices beginning with this letter. The die is cast. Jacksons on George at 176 George Street it is:

However, this time, instead of the squalid ground floor bar, I propose that we venture upstairs, to the second floor, where there is quite a nice terrace and some pool tables. This is known as The Pool Bar, so let's see if it's any better than downstairs - How could it be any worse?

Thanks to OzStu for suggesting the Industrie Bar as an 'I' - but it looks like it's wine only - I read some reviews, and they all crapped on about the extensive wine selection and didn't mention any beer or cider. Maybe I'll drop in on my way through and have a proper look.

So tomorrow - The Pool Bar at Jacksons on George...

There was some talk of ingoring the new name of James Squires name? (now king street wharf brewery or something like that)

Don't get me wrong as you all know Jacksons on George is my all time favourite bar in Sydney.

Only kidding don't min where we go but if it is sunny the James Squires place might be nice?

Oh crap....if its going to be inclement then I might not bother. Nothing worse than walking back from the train station at night with no taxis within 20k and its persistent!!

well pJ OBriens has Pork and Pint month for October and has live acoustic music on Thursday, always get a decent pint in there. I just find Jacksons completely soulless, but its a hard job finding a venue to suit all so all power to Swervo for making a bold decision.

I had my first ever beer in Sydney at Jacksons on George (arrived at the airport at 10pm Sunday night April 2010, dumped my bags and found this pub open at 11.30pm)

In hindsight I am now surprised i didnt straight away get a flight back to the UK!

Looking forward to getting there around 6ish

I actually think it is OK: serves beer, decent location, normally plenty of room on a thursday night, outdoor beer area. For some strange reason it seems it is the northerners that complain which is surprising when you think about it!@
