Great to have one (ours is in a rental, so we're test driving) but they are quite a pain to maintain. And if/when water is a huge issue then it's gonna be expensive to top it up!

There's lots of little bits of a pool to consider, like chemicals, filters, equipment and i seem to spend a lot of time skimming the leaves/bugs from the surface (but we are near a lot of trees).

That said, there's nothing like coming home from work and running outside, stripping off as you go (a la Superman) and plunging in in your pants :)

Hmm, bit too much info maybe....:o

Well, in the couple of months we've had ours we've had the pool shop in to put some tablets in (stabilisers @ $15) and the other day some bloke came around to do the monthly check and put $17 worth of something in :(

Are we being conned?

I put chlorine in every few days or so, and the bloke said to put acid in, which i haven't yet at all.

sounds like it to me

I take a sample to the pool shop get it done free, and add anything needed myslef last year I would say I put $50max of salt and chemicals in. At the beginning of the swimming season this year I put in less than a litre of acid ($10 for 5 litres) and that was it. Last few weeks nowt required....too easy

you can buy test strips out of Coles $12 for 50, I use them a couple times a week in the height of summer so its easy to know that the water is OK Its easy to do it yourself as long as you keep ontop of it
