What really saddens me is the fact that people are saddened by the people that are saddened by the saddening lack of decent gravy powder, this is truly sad, or is it? , sadly I don't know anymore

Then why do you want to use Bisto?

Anyone would think that Bisto was the REAL gravy ;)

I use oxo's and greens gravy granules (and meat juices!) :D

Couple of oxo's in water, then thicken it with the granules (a couple of spoonfuls, depends how much there is)...lovely and not plastic like Bisto :)

Gravy is the devil, comes froms the devils own bottom and turns a perfectly nice meal into slop.

There, I've said it.

Just like instant garedn peas to fresh, at the end of the day it's down to individual choice, and we prefer instant just that you can't get the 'good' stuff here just grubby water:)
How did the first part of my last reply 'truly' depress you please?

What do you define as the 'good' stuff? From your other posts it appears you mean Bisto, which you certainly can buy in Australia, although only at specialty shops. We use Bisto as a thickener with the meat juices as the main flavour ingredient.

And I can't remember the last time I drank instant 'coffee', it was so long ago. Always use fresh ground beans (except at work where they provide pre-ground coffee and plungers).

Also we like both frozen baby peas and the Surprise dehydrated ones: fresh peas are the best if you can get them really young and sweet but the peas you find in most greengrocers are too old.

My hubby always used to mix the meat juices with the mixed bisto gravy, that was nice;)
But the meat here seems a little bland and the juices are scarce when it finally cooks out:) So it was back to doing the granules with the veggie water, (not spud water):curse: and maybe some corn flour to try and add body to it.

Probably leaner cuts of meat. Cook your meat in an oven bag to compensate for the lack of fat in the meat.

The meat is a nice looking cut of meat here, very full bodied looking, and yes a lot less fat than the uk, but some fat helps with the flavouring, and eventually the juices to add to my gravy granules:)

There's your first mistake, using granules instead of powder. We tried Bisto granules once - never again!

Re: Sunday roast

Yeah but granules gives us the onion flavour option, which you don't get with powder.
