Suncreams!!!!
We are moving to Australia in September and my daughter is allergic to most suncreams. the only one we have found in the UK is Boots own brand. Do we take a bulk load?!! or is the range of suncreams good in Aus? Many thanks for your replies.

The range of sunscreens here is huge....our fav is Pricelines own make...Factor 30+ Broad spectrum.....$11 for a litre...its not oily and very light on the skin

Argh, suncreams are a nightmare, Every summer my son suffers terrible eczema on the back of his legs and it's the suncream that causes it. I have tried so many different types and have yet to find one that doesn't give him eczema.

Maybe they'll have something in Oz that works.

Frankly the range of sunscreens are excellent and the prices very very good compared to the UK.

I've tried several here, would love to be told about one that doesn't aggravate eczema. I still use Boots E45 one - my mate has to post it to me. Anyone got any suggestions of Aussie hypo-allergenic mega-sensitive-skin ones?

Have you tried asking at your nearest skin cancer place. They might know or have one

Like the one my skin specialist recommended that made my skin worse? I've learnt from experience as I'm sure others have - be very very wary and try ones that others have tried, rather than the ones that the "experts" (with healthy skin) think are great!

I would love to find an answer to this too please,my youngest has eczema & every suncream applied so far irritates her skin to some extent,especially 'total sunblock' I'm told it doesn't let the skin breathe
I'm using the small tubes of white zinc at the moment on her skin.

Also anybody know of a sensitive insect repellent especially for eczema skin?

Deb uses a Tea Tree oil based one keeps the mozzies away and very gentle on the skin. We used it on the twins when they were here as they had bad eczema. I'll ask her in the morning.

I personally would take a load of the Boots ones. But be aware that suncreams have a date on them after which they los their effectiveness against the sun so you will be limited by this date.

I don't know if it's of any help to you, but I was recommended to try two *natural* sunscreens by a lady whose daughter suffers from quite bad eczema. One is a product called Soleo (http://www.organicsaustraliaonline.com.au/prod1303.htm) , and the other is called UV Natural (http://www.natureschild.com.au/produ...screen/1654/1).

I hasten to add that neither is cheap, but they are excellent for children who have sensitive skin. The cost would depend on how much you used them. Both appear to contain macadamia nut products, so might not be suitable for kids with nut allergies. Not sure how macadamia nuts affect nut allergy sufferers - are they similar to almonds, in which case not really nuts? Not sure on this.

I have used both of these sunscreens on my daughter when it is absolutely unavoidable that she spends some prolonged time in the sun and I have found both excellent.
