Default Stupid question?

I know this sounds daft, but, what is a bond? and why do some have to pay it and some don't?

Thanks

Gary

Hi Gary

The bond is $100000 aus and is a way of getting an extra 5 points.
The bond is kept by the Aus gov for 1 year and then payed back with interest.
