Question Studying in Australia.......

Hello everyone! This is my first post as i am a new member.

The situation is this...My Mum, Dad and I are hopefully moving to Griffith, NSW within the next couple of months, just waiting for the Visa to be officially accepted! I really want to study over there but I'm so confused about how i go about it! I'm sure i need to apply for an additional student Visa or something. If i do manage to study over there it will probably only be at college level, the price of studying in Aus is mental! I'm only 18 and still a bit clueless about what i want to do with my life too, so that's not a big help either! I'm going to need a job or a loan to cover those fees....but HOW DO I DO IT?!

I'd appreciate any help you can give!

The visa is a 457 business visa which allows my mum, my dad and myself to live and work in australia. Or so i think! Hehe, i know i'd have to apply for a separate student visa, but i'm thinking maybe now i should work for a while to get some money in the bank and tobecome a citizen before blowing it on an education!

Ask on the immigration forum, if you've not already done so. Being on a temporary visa is going to make your life much more complicated and may even mean you can't stay in Australia long term, even if your parents manage to do so.

Out of interest, why are your parents not applying for a permanent visa instead? (eg ENS or RSMS).

thanks for the info! In reply to your question, my mum found out about the whole Australia thing in the 'nursing standard' magasine, where there was an advert for nurses who wanted to live and work in Australia. I think the company is called HealthStaff recruitment. Anyway, to cut a long story short, my mum cannot apply for a permanent visa just yet becuae she does not have 3 years post graduate nursing experience (she only has 2), so we're going in on a temporary one until we can apply for a permanent one!

Hi Laura,
How weird, Griffith is not the largest of towns but my husband is also moving there within the next month to take up a job at Barrters(poultry company. I am also a nurse and specialise in intensive Care. However, my daughter (16, yr 11) and I are going to Brisbane to further her education as she wants to carry on with school so she can go to college after graduation. If you do wish to go to college/uni, Wagga Wagga has an excellent campus. It's about 2 hours drive from Griffith. Not sure about the fees though. I'm sure if you e-mail them, they'll be able to give you some advice.
Good Luck!!

If you decide to study on the Gold Coast at Bond, Griffith, QU or Southern Cross we may be able to help - we run a great program in conjunction with StudyGoldCoast to assist new students. www.goldcoastsmile.com/smile_package_for_students.htm

If I can be of any help, please let me know.

Hi Debbie,
We are not migration agents so cannot advise on your question, however if you check our TRUSTED company page, http://www.goldcoastsmile.com/tried_...s_students.htm, here you will find some invaluable resources including organisations that will be able to assist you. I would 100% recommend you email our partner StudyGoldCoast [email protected] for guidance.

We specialise in "looking after" students primarily from overseas or other states. We offer a full support system throughout their time at Uni on the Gold Coast, and even can offer work experience placements and the like. We ensure that the student is comfortable, happy and can relax into their new life in a friendly, family based environment!

If I can be of any help, please just ask. We also produce an ebook specifically for students on the Gold Coast, which can be purchased via our online store. There are also some useful free downloads in the store on our site.
