Default stopover ideas

Hi all,

We are now at the looking at flights stage (how exiciting!!) and would like a nice stopover.

We are flying to Perth are there any suggestions on somewhere exotic or just plain gorge, other than singapore that we can do a two night stopover.

I priced bali on one airline site and it came out at £10k :scared:

Somewhere we can chill on a beach for a day or two is what i had in mind. Hope you can help, im not coming up with much.

Thanks Guys

Don' t believe everything you read. Routing thru Bali should add maybe GBP100 to many ticket possibilities (or if you're going coach and prepared to take a bit of waiting around, nothing), then a good hotel there will only cost GBP50 a night tops.

Eg my RTW tkt a couple of years ago was only GBP750 incl Bali and Sydney amongst others.

You can go via America to Perth. I did this the opposite way, flew Perth-Sydney-LA-Detroit (to see family)-London. This was with Qantas/BA. United/Air New Zealand also had a similar option, but with a stop in New Zealand rather than Sydney. So in theory you could take a stopover in America as well as a stop in Sydney or Auckland.

Thailand, Japan, HK, Malaysia, Sri Lanka are just some options. Net prices can often throw up 10k anomalies.

We did London - Dubai - Bombay - Sri Lanka - Bangkok by land to Singapore to Melbourne with emirates one way for 450 plus 70 tax.

Give Bridgetheworld.com a try I emailed an agent and they came up with a number of possibilities

Was worth it really enjoyed the 3 months we travelled

Would definitely recommend Dubai, unless you are a single female travelling alone. Very friendly, great hotels, beaches, restaurants and pubs. Quad bikes on the sand dunes is a must. Good for chilling out and recovering from jet lag as well.

Their are a couple of fantastic islands off Malaysia you could visit. We've stayed at both Langkawi and Pangkor and can recommend both.

Try giving TravelBag a call, I've found their staff to be really helpful and knowledgable and they usually have some money saving deals available.

Their main number is 0870 890 1456
