Stopover enroute
Hi
Things seem a bit stagnant so I thought I'd chip in on the subject of great places to stopover. I work for an airline and have visited all the Far East hubs and in my opinion you can't beat Thailand. The people are lovely, its really cheap and it has loads of character, OK it can be a bit smelly but it has a charm and the best foot massages and shopping ever . Singapore is nice but sterile (however it definately has the best airport) Kuala Lumpur is OK, Manila is awful and dangerous and I once paid 120 pounds for a haircut in Hong Kong so I'm not going back there!
Anyone else have any thoughts?
Susan

Re: Stopover enroute
Hi
I agree about Singapore airport being fantastic. After an 8 hour delay my son wants to live there. It has shops, sky tv, restaurants, cinemas and even a swimmingpool.
There is plenty of shopping to be done in singapore, a brilliant zoo and little india and the orchid gardens are well worth a visit.
Bali is also a fantastic place as a stopover. Everything is very cheap, if you can stand the culture shock. You can get a massage on the beach, have your hair plaited by the pool and buy lots of great local art. There are lots of temples to visit and the scenery is fantastic.arty dance:

Don't forget the Internet cafe S$2 for 15 minutes, free between midnight and 0600.
The coin in the slot Internet machines at Auckland airport are a very poor
substitute.

Definitely. And don't forget Universal Studios too. For you, not the kids Nothing
like screaming your head off on thrill rides. It's the only time you get to do so
without people giving you odd looks. Maybe linger for a few more days and head out
to Vegas. Lots to do for the kids these days, and you. Well worth it.
Good luck,
Helena

Re: Stopover enroute
I think KL is better than SIN, much cheaper, more child friendly. Also if you book
Malaysia Airlines you usually can get a free add on to Langkawi (and that is nice!)
Bear in mind too if you fly from the glorious north to the far east (e.g. Manchester)
you usually have about a 12 hour wait at the midpoint - we book in the transit hotel
and find this helps the laaaggggg! "Tony Bryer" <[email protected]> wrote in message

Eurodisney may be cheaper but it also a lot colder/rainier (is there such a word?). California's got eternal sunshine.
