Stop overs ????
#1
Just wondered if any one could give us some ideas on the best place to stop on the way to Perth ?
We have 2 kids (4yrs and 11yrs) and fancy a few days holiday before we arrive but I really don't know where to start, can we fly from Glasgow, whats kiddy friendly, reasonably priced, baggage allowance if we stop over ???
etc ????
If anyone fancies sharing their experiences and recomendations I would really appreciate it, and hopefullly get some sort of starting point.
Cheers

It looks fab, but my brother told me that its humid as hell and like walking around in a sauna ! That kinda puts me off but apart from that it looks perfect.

I'd do Singapore and take the kids to Sentosa Island. Yes it's humid but it's not too bad and everywhere is airconditioned, as long as you have bottles of water with you, you'll be fine. We were there on our stopover in November 05 and were fine. The locals are lovely and the place is incredibly clean and interesting.

We have 3 kids now aged 9 8 and 4. We have stopped over in Singapore and KL both of which we loved!

We were advised Singapore too. We're staying for 2 nights in the Shangri La near Orchard Road and have two young boys (8 & 6). It'll give us a chance to catch up on some sleep and get into the time difference before landing in Perth and starting our new life.

There's a Disneyland which is great for kids of all ages (we went a few years ago just after it opended and we didn't have the excuse of having kids).
Towards the south of the island there's Ocean Park which has plenty of marine life as the name suggests, they also have pandas which is something you don't get everywhere.
It's a real cultural mix, if a bit wierd seeing red phone boxes so far from home.
The public transport systems are second to none (cheap and so clean).
We went in September which was a little humid.
Have fun making your mind up.

What what is it you hated about Dubai ?
This was another option we thought of, as you can fly from Glasgow.
Thanks everyone for alll the replies, its so usefull getting an insight in to others experiences. My son and I have taken on the challenge of arranging the stopover/s, so he was well chuffed with all the replies.

I stopped over in Malaysia (Penang) a lovely island. We stayed at the Shangri La Golden Sands resort which was fantastic, the kids loved it. There was lovely night markets outside the hotel every night as well.
We are emigrating soon and are thinking of where next we can can.
Would want to stay for about 5 days and are thinking of Singapore. Has anyone stayed at the Shangri La in Singapore or is Sentosa Beach Resort better?
Is there enough to do in Singapore for 5 days? Is it expensive
Decisions, decisions, Thailand is an option as well !!
Any replies gratefully recieved.

They may prefer being in an oven to a steam room.
