Hi - I have a 6 hour stop in Abu Dhabi on the way to the UK.
Does anyone have any advice on what is achievable in this time? Would like to leave the airport. Is it quick to get into town?
Maybe Ferrari world at Yas Island or a water park?
Thanks!

All in ( customs , travel time etc ) it'll take about 1 1/2 hours to get to the city. The Marina Mall is a good place to spend a few hours and have a fit at how cheap everything will seem compared to Oz.
Ferrari world probably won't be worth it as you'll probably only have 4 hours there and most of that will be spent in queues.
Maybe try to just get use of the nearest hotel with a decent pool and chill out and have a bit of a swim?

Can you just leave like that and go back to the airport?

6 hours is not that long and in my opinion not long enough to wararnt leaving the airport.
We just had a 9 hour transit in singapore last week and by the time we disembarked the aircraft, cleared immigration and customs, collected our bags, stored our bags, 1/2 hour travel into the city and 1/2 hr back to airport, collect our bags and check in in plenty of time before departure, that left us with only 3 hours!!.

No, not if you use 2 different carriers on 2 separate bookings. We flew Air Asia from Denpassar to Singapore and then Scoot to Gold Coast

Not suggesting that the bags fly without passengers...they'll still be pulled off if you don't show up for the flight.

[QUOTE=bcworld;10278307]Gotcha...the OP should be able to though assuming they are travelling the whole way on Etihad.
Yep - I thought about that too - assuming they are travelling with the one carrier.

You're right - you would think that these days they would make you hang onto your own bags until you're through security and cannot leave the airport without them.

If you are in transit and your bags have been checked right through then the bags are already airside, so therefore have already travelled with you thus far and all the necessary screening has already taken place.
