Just woke up to the news, totally shocked. He was totally mad but a great animal lover and he will be sadly missed. My heart goes out to his wife and kids. RIP Steve.

I know sometimes he takes Bindi out with him on his trips. The first thing that went through my mind was I hope she wasnt on the boat when this happened.

Absolutely Gutted!!
My condolences to his family!
Steve Irwin is one of the things i loved about australia. I was hoping to get over to Australia Zoo and see him one day. Such a fascinating bloke, Genuine and passionate about the environment.
RIP Steve.

Oh my god how awful.
Was just watching him on telly at the hospital with our wee one yesterday and were talking about visiting the zoo next year and hoping he would be there.
Totally gutted for his wife and kids.

Bad news Stevo. I met him a couple of times he is a really nice bloke just the same off screen as he is on it.
RIP mate.
Anyone got any Steve Irwin jokes yet or is it too soon?

So so sad. Eldest (4yo) and I both shed a tear on hearing this news. What an amazing man. I hope his family take some cold comfort from the fact he died doing what he loved. A huge loss, for Australia, for the world and for his family.
RIP Steve, you will be remembered
