Default State Territory Sponsored Business Visa 163

Has anyone got to Australia via this route and has anyone got their sponsorship approved and then been refused by DIMIA?

Just curious to know that if you obtain sponsorship, does this mean you have a good chance of being granted your 4 year visa so long as everything is in order.

Also does anyone know how long you have from being granted the visa to having to arrive in Australia?

Thanks in advance.

State sponsorship is only one of the criteria for the 163 visa. DIMIA will look at all of them.

163 has a first entry date like the regular migration visas. Normally 12 months from the earliest of medicals and police checks but some people get less time. Do a forum search on 'validate' or 'validation' and you should get plenty of threads to look at on this subject.

Thanks for the reply Jeremy.

We're going for State Sponsorship next week. Had good initial feedback from the State Dept and fingers crossed that we can get approval and then move on to the next phase.

Regards,

HK.

Hi there,

I wish I'd searched and found your thread rather than starting another very similar one....... Most people who ost seem to be going down the skills assessment route, not all brave like us and attempting the state sponsorship business option.

We went over to Perth in Jan/Feb this year and loved it. We went to see the Small Business Development Corporation and they were very supportive. We got notification through from our agent today that we have sponsorship. This is great news, but we obviously want to know if this improves our chances for the visa and if it will be processed any quicker?

We have an agent, but they are making silly mistakes and we're paying them a lot of money! Realistically, we could probably have done it ourselves, but with 3 kids and a busy business - it takes some of the pressure off.

Where abouts are you headed? Keep in touch and we can share experiences.

Good luck, jules.

Hi, we're thinking about WA sponsorship ourselves. Are hoping to go out and have a look round early next year. Any useful info would be helpful. We have got 2 boys 5+7 yrs and run our own business's too.

Hi,

We're applying to Queensland State Dept and I was told that if you obtain Sponsorship, it is similar to passing TRA which effectively means you are in with a good chance of getting the visa.

As JAJ rightly said, sponsorship is only one part of the criteria required though.

The telling point is when DIMIA request med checks. My Agent said that they don't like to waste people's time and that a request for these is a very good indication that you will be granted a visa. Obviously you will need to have the all clear on these and Police checks.

Feel free to PM me if you want to discuss some things further.

Regards.
