Default Stat Decs by Australians

I am applying in the UK for a Australian Defacto visa. My girlfriend has had to travel to Australia due to a family emergency.

I have stat decs from my own family (UK) about the nature of my relationship with my girlfriend (OZ), but do I need to get her family to write stat decs as well? (Form 888)

Also I have all the information for the application except the police check which is taking longer than I thought. Is it wise to send my application in and simply forward the police check when I get it?

I feel like I am wasting time which could be used to answer any quieries that Aus House may have. What does everyone think?

Hi Lincoln lad

I was told that its best to get stat decs from both sides of the family if possible . My police cert took 3 weeks and i posted it on afterwards.
Good luck

Hi there

I agree with costy - would recommend stat decs from both sides if possible, especially if they have met you, maybe just obtain one if you are tight for time.

sending on your police certifcate later would be fine, they will probably request it anyway when they require it and you can forward then.

Good Luck

Definately worth form 888 being completed by her parents at least. I believe you actually need two stat decs from Aussie citizens. Remember that those making decs from Australia need to send certified copies of birth certificate/passport to prove identity!

You might as well wait for your police check to come through and send everything together. Police are obliged to send it within a certain timeframe and mine came through within a couple of weeks.

It is not essential but advisable to do so to avoid time consuming requests for more information.
