Default Stamp Duty & 1st time Buyers Grant

Hi Can anyone tell me when stamp duty is paid-at time of sale? or within 3 months after purchase. Similarly hen is the 1st time buyers grant paid over-at time of sale or after? Or is it offset against the stamp duty at time of sale.

Cheers

Hi,
I think stamp duty is paid at the time of sale and the ist time buyers grant has to be paid afterwards as you need to have title deed information to claim it...

Cheers

Hi, we settle in 2 weeks and were told stamp duty paid at time of sale, and homebuyers grant would be ready to collect from solicitors on settlement date!! Thought this might be too good to be true..heres hoping though. ANZ were the ones who told us.

Depends which state you're in I guess. We got ours on the same day as we settled, and it was knocked off the total amount of the sale by the conveyancor (that's SA).

yep. Often the lending institution will claim the first time grant on your behalf and its then available at settlement. Stamp duty is payable at settlement as well.
