There are some tiny jumping spiders here. They aren't toxic and are really quite cute. Just the slightest nudge and they jump a few inches. Here's more info, but DON'T look if don't like close-ups of spiders.

Had a look through, thanks for the link,,

Its amazing that something that is my worse fear can fascinate me so much! i appreciate they are in their own way , they are magnificient creatures. Why oh why do i find them so scarey :curse: at the same time,,

I dont mind little jumping ones, its if the bigger ones, are surprised by door being opened, or box in the garage that they get their mad up and have a hairy legged jump at you...

Another thing i got told (maybe another ozzie wind up) was dont walk under the trees in the evening, as they drop out , intentionally!!

Not sure if people wind those up who do have a genuine fear, i dont mind being told the facts,

Personally I think the webs are more of a nuisance than the spiders. They can span enormous distances between trees but you get used to spotting them and ducking under them. Nearly everyone has a spiders' web brush (soft brush on extendable handle) to get rid of them around the house.
Spiders and all the other bugs are fascinating, with the exceptions of ants, ticks, flies and mossies

They do jump, including the big ones. They are bl**dy fast too.

Don't worry about it.

Thumbs up Re: A spider question

When you actually look at their faces they're not that bad, Not that I would want one to land on me but, i think it's worse if you just think of them as just hairy predators.

I actually like that link

It's not the jumping that bothers me it's the gouging your eyes out and eating your brains that is worrying.

lol

I have seen them jump from my deck to the soil and run off as fast as a mouse. They don't bother me now as they always run off. If you catch one inside just use a bowl and paper and out it outside.

I have never been afraid of spiders until a Huntsman ran across my windscreen whilst I was in the Burnley Tunnel, nevermind if spiders can jump, I certainly did and nearly crashed. It was a red hot day and I darent open my window all the way home. I got back and couldnt see it anywhere so thought I must have lost it down the Monash somewhere. Until 5 days later I parked up outside Safeways and the thing was there again. It must have been living under my car all that time
