Default speed ticket - no fine

Hi,

Thought I would let you know I got a speeding ticket a $131 fine and 1 point for doing 66 in a 60 zone!

I wrote a letter telling them it had done its job as I always stick to the speed limit now (which I do).

I have received a letter informing me that the fine and point has been dropped.

Well done Australia.

Nice one Shall file that bit of info away for a later date, although I am a bit paranoid about not speeding

Yes, but it only works once in a three year period!

Let me get this straight - you get done for speeding, you say "sorry guv, I won't do it again. Honest" - and they say "good on ya, no worries, just forget about the fine thingy!"?????

Rock on.

I got let off a fine once as well. Got cought twice in about 20 mins on the Great Ocean Road Only about 10k over the limit each time. Wrote a letter saying 'I'm a good boy really' and they let me off one of them. Not both though - booo!

They are bloomin' strict though aren't they?! I mean 6km over the limit - that's less than 4mph. Doubt the police over here would bat an eyelid...

It was a car with the camera on the front. As you say they are strict on the actual offence though.

It's the school zones that get me! It's bad enough when you are in a familiar area but in Sydney last week, surrounded by literally hundreds of road signs - bus zones (at certain times only), two and three passenger lanes (certain times only), direction signs, speed limits changing every few yards (sorry, metres) etc etc I drove straght through one at 50kph without even knowing it.

The amount of metal hanging around masquerading as road furniture here is stunning!

Any chance you could post a copy of your successful apology letter - I just got done in similar circumstances so would appreciate seeing what worked!
