Default speaking english?????

I think this ones been done before but I cant find it on the search.
A friend has e-mailed me asking what words ausies use that have different (or no) meanings for UKers. Off the top of my head I thought of:
Thongs
root
singlet
chips
hoons
feral (might be my workplace only but they're always on about feral (wild) nights out???)
Theres another one I hear a lot that seems to mean irritated or annoyed but I cant think of it

I know there are loads more, anyone help me out???

Purdey? American hick slang for pretty. Sadly, I hear that word nearly every second day.

Same as Australia, though we say moving more than shifting.

For some strange reason wearing singlets in Aus means you will trash a bar and are bad news: hence the ban on them in all good drinking establishments.

Maybe more to do with the sweat glands?

I have no idea what (or who) a Jackie Howe is, but from the picture a singlet appears to be exactly what I would expect, so now I'm confused. Have I missed something?

The one I liked best was from an aussie girl I worked with who said she liked 'perving' our (young, fit, attractive, male) manager. This conjured up all sorts of unsuitable images in my mind, but in fact all she meant was 'to lust after' - nothing *really* kinky...

Anya.
