We had Eagle Freight over today just to make sure all was ok for the move. He told me a couple of interesting things....

If you want to save money on freight, and you aren`t restrained by a time of arrival of the shipment, then they can consolidate your shipment onto a 40ft container and when the container is filled by one or two other people, it goes and you`ve saved a couple of hundred. Each persons stuff is seperated by a wooden wall.

The quote for shipping depends not only on the amount of stuff to go, but also on the type eg a glass cabinet costs them extra to pack than a cupboard. It also depends on what area of the country you are in as the trucking/freight costs are different.

We`ll be using them for the £2750 they quoted for a 20ft container (will be cheaper if they can line up a 40ft consolidated within our timeframe), door-door to Perth with them packing and us unpacking. They`ll be here on the 30th to pack, and then load onto the container on the 31st.
