Default Some help

Hi,

I would appreciate some advice. I have just been offered a job in Melbourne. I am yet to negotiate pay, but I think it will be in the region of $65-70k. I am bringing over my wife and we have no kids. We will be looking to rent a small-to-mid (1 or 2 bedroom) house or flat in the Footscray area, and will require a car. I realise these things are all relative but in general I wondered whether this wage will provide a comfortable quality of life for us both in Melbourne?

Many thanks in advance,

Tom.

Well I wouldn't have thought it would be partculary comfortable. But there is no such thing as generlaly comfortable, we are all different and don't see comfortable the same. How it compare to your current salary is the est way to ascertain how comfortable or otherwise you might find it.

Yes but it may take a few months for her to find a job. She is in social work.

Thanks for your help, I appreciate the input! My employer has a very generous relocation package so I should be fine for accommodation initially.

Personally wouldn't live in Footscray . Think it's a very undesirable part of Melbourne.
You'd be fine on that wage.
