Default Some Advice Please

Hello BE.

We are going to land in OZ approx 8 weeks time.

Please can you tell me if we need to take with us any old Documents like,
Utility bills, School reports (childrens), Receipts and any sort of Credit rating?

Will this help in, House Hunting, Kids Schooling or any Reference to Australian
Institutes and Governable Bodies?

Much Thanks.

Hi there (I won't ask how you got your name )

The guys in Oz are probably the best ones to answer this for you and they are in bed now so thought I would respond to bump it up to the top again for you.

Eight weeks to go - you lucky things!! Hope all goes well!

Hi There

You should definately bring as much info as possible, we did and used some of the info to secure a rental on our arrival.

Don't know what the situation is like now, coz that was 5 yrs ago, but your better off with it than without it

From a school point of view, you wont need their reports (you can take them if you like, the school will probably just glance over them, say thank you and then do their own thing anyway) but you will need their vaccination records (most important) and if you have a child with a disability then copies of every assessment and report that has ever been written. Otherwise the school will just want your visa and evidence of a permanent address.

If you are going to be renting property then bring references as to your reliability as a tenant or, if you havent been a tenant, then bring something from the bank to attest to your regular mortgage payments plus a character reference or two.

You will have to start again with your credit rating I believe.

If you are likely to need to prove your own educational background for employment (teaching is notorious for this for example) then bring all transcripts and if you dont have transcripts then ask for them before you leave.

We got here in July and most of our paperwork came in the container. The main reason you would need to have some docs with you when you arrive would be to help secure a rental, so bring bank / mortgage statements and perhaps a reference if you can. We got a reference off the estate agent we have let our property out through to say what a well maintained house it is.

Private schools will ask for school reports so they are worth bringing. Even if you are intending to send your children to public schools (as we were on arrival) you may change your mind once you're here.

Yeah like the guys say. You can make up a reference though and no need for credit info - they won't do any checks for normal things. We got bank a/'s and credit cards no probs.

They love forms here though so just bring as much as poss in case. Oh and get your PR stamp (if you are PR) in your passport. We had the bog standard letter and its a pain in the ass proving you are PR with just the letter. Esp at the Car licensing.
