Default Soil Levelling, Butler WA

Hi. I have a question in regards to the levelling of soil in my new property. I am staying in a house with land width of 15m (my plot size is 480sqm). I have obtained a quotation from one of the tradesman specialising in the job. He had highlighted to me on the need to remove the fence separating our house from the neighbour in order to drive his mini bobcat to our backyard via the neighbour’s pathway at the side.

He quoted me $800 for the dismantling and fixing the fence, removal of soil at the front, back, and side of the house. The quotation also includes the removal of soil from the crossover in order for me to lay the bricktiles from the walkway to the road verge.

I have not spoken to other people doing the same job. Is he giving me a reasonable quotation????

Few more bits of information might be useful?

- amount of soil being removed (from rear, from side, from front)
- Have you a destination for the soil
- Amount of hours he expects too take (ie think about someone faster but higher rate?
- Access for truck too place excess soil in? Can he park up off the road or will he obstruct traffic (need to think about OHS)
- What work are you expecting to do - laying tiles instead of turf?

Amount of soil – it would be similar to the other plots. I have dug 8 soakwells and the soil are being disbursed around my plot of land.

The person will dump the excess soil in a tip. He will pay the fee to gain access to the tip and the right to dump.

He will have a truck ready to transport the soil. No problems with parking in the vicinity.

I intend to turf the area and add brick tiles to the crossover.

Thanks…
