Had a look but can't find any 'VIA' options on the cheapo flight websites.

Try `multi-leg journey'!

It may help.

I know tha Qaint Arse do this.

LHR to LA on BA, then Qantas to Australia.
Qantas people are very helpful on the phone. They looked into unaccompanied baggage and left luggage options for us as well as we're going to stop in the States for a couple of weeks on the way to Sydney. One way flights from approx £470.

This is good news! We will be leaving from Florida and heading to Perth via LAX. Is the 64kg offered on Quantas only?

Best route I think.

Spend a couple of days in LA and see Disney etc for the kids. Will make it a bit of a break.
