Sleeping on beach

Currently planning on heading to Coolangatta for NYE, afternoon at beach followed by fireworks.

Can I just sleep on the beach afterwards?

There is a possibility that soem beaches may be closed due to the swell resulting from Tropical Cyclone Freda.
Be warned, and if they are closed then obey the signs!
