Default skills assesment problems

hello Again!

My partner is having terrible trouble getting a letter from his boss to say that he works for the company. He has worked there for the last 6 years.

Is that letter from your employer absolutely essential for the TRA.
He has tax receipts and payslips and declarations signed by the solicitor with a university degree and CV
do you think this is enough?

Thank you.... Keri

It really does help to have one - however if you've got enough 'supplementary' evidence like payslips etc you can do a statutory declaration - a statement read out in front of a notary (like JP or Judge or Magistrate) which is something along the lines of. ( search for better on the immigration forum - search for stat dec example )

I joe bloggs certify that I worked for JimmyBobs Incorporated as a chairman from 01/01/00 until 01/01/01 and my main duties in this role were:

- making chairs
- sitting on them

I declare that this is a true statement as witnessed by XXXXXXXX (magistrate) on xx./xx/xx (todays date).

This will help.

Does he have a contract of employment with his job description and outline of duties ?

This may also help.

Its extremely rare for UK refernces to be checked. I know they've checked India and other references people on here have mentioned, not heard of a UK reference being checked.

You dont need a fake piece of paper - the stat-dec + payslips etc will suffice , dont risk it !!. You dont want that hanging over you beleive me the visa process is stressful enough without even the tiniest niggle.

Lots of UK references have been checked by DIMIA.

Yes - but incomparison on this forum as a guide (which I know is a poor sample) lots of asian countries have mentioned having calls to check references but extremely few if any from UK have done the same.

Keri,

My Husband works for his parents company and has done for the last 10 years and the TRA called her to check the details and she then also got a call during the main application process.

Can you not type out the letter with what it needs to say and put it on disk, that way at least you've done the hard work for him and all he has to do is print and sign.
