Question Skilled assessment question

Hiya everyone Newbie here with a question.

I'm a signal technician on the Uk railways who is considering migrating to Oz.

My problem is that although my job is in demand in Oz it's not on the skilled occupations list. I know that if you are to have your skills assessed you have to contact one of the major boards ie The institute of Electrical Engineers etc but the people who assess my skills are the Institute of railway signal engineers. I was considering applying as a an electrical engineering associate but don't want to waste my time if it isn't the correct choice.

Who do I contact for some advice about this?

Hi Fletch

You may be best posting this on the 'Immigration' forum, rather than this, the 'lifestyle' forum. It seems quite a specialist question that one of the contributing Migration Agents may be able to help with.

Welcome to the forum though, there are lots of experienced people here who enjoy a good natter over who's right and who's wrong on various subjects about the Ozzie lifestyle. Be careful though, you will find yourself coming back for more...and more...and more....

Fletchismint, I see that you work in the rail industry, I do too, In the electrical design (HV & DC traction) field. Have you been in contact with any companies or agencies in Oz regarding work?. I've contacted an agency in Melbourne that has a lot on, I'll send you the details if you want.
