Singapore Baggage Allowance for 457 Visa holders
We're leaving on the 1st April to start our 4 year stay in Sydney (457 visa). We travel via Singapore and i'm told we are not entitled to any additional baggage allowance because we are not emmigrating permanently. 4 years is still a long time though. Has anyone managed to get the additional allowance on a 457 visa?

No PR, no extra allowance!!!!!!
Thats what we were told by all the major airlines if you want to go via singapore.
However if you go via the states, i believe its two cases per person at 32kilos each (such is the yankee allowance) Strange,eh?

I am on a 3-yr 457 and we managed to get 35 Kg/person including our 3 kids.
Took several phone calls but they agreed in the end.

Having one-way tickets was a help, the flight wasn't particularly busy and we just explained that we weren't coming back, so they let us take it all.
