Default Silly question about shipping

Hi

We're possible moving back to Adelaide at the end of the year and I'm starting to tidy up and think about the selling house/shipping etc. We have a load of cardboard boxes from where our house contents were put into storage last year. Will shippers re-use these boxes or do they use plywood crates?

Alot of removalists now recycle cartons from job to job. Can't see a problem, but you should check with whoever you are using and tell them that you have heaps of cartons already. Failing that, turn them inside-out to hide the logos and pack them yourself to save money.

A shipper will always use their own boxes ... both for the fact that they know the strength of their own material and for insurance purposes.

In our case they ended up packing some of our pre-packed boxes into their own boxes. But make sure that your pre-packed boxes aren't sealed up or packed too tightly as they will still need to go through all the contents so that they can personally vouch for the inventory list.

And heavy duty cardboard boxes are standard - I've not heard of any shippers using plywood crates.

You must be a magician how do you turn a card board box inside out...most companys like to use their own branded Cartons, this way we know what we can put in them and what weights they can safely hold.
Like the previous poster has said , we can slide boxs inside are own cartons which , with give s double side wall protection.
Packing your own box,s means you will not get insurance cover on any thing you pack................cheers mm

Point taken...came out the wrong way...

What about firms like...http://www.hireabox.com.au/, that hire cartons for people to use for removal?

Working on the assumption that the OP was in Australia, as no location was given.

Hi

In that case I will just freecycle my boxes. At the moment they're just flat-packed in my garage just in case we relocated within the UK. We're going to get shippers into pack for us when we get that far so its probably easier just to go with what they bring.

It will make the garage look tidier for any potential house viewers anyway.
