Default Sick of the crap on this forum!

Am I the only one who is heartly sick and tired of the garbage posts on this forum?

There's pb - its all been said, dotty - how much money i've got, wilf and megalania - offspring of pb, don of pleasance family - pages and pages of waffle about anything and everything and obviously another of pb's offspring, and several others who think this is a general chat group.

Each day the genuine people who log on to find out information about australia are forced to wade through reams of crap.

There are decent helpful people on here, including Alan Collet who also has his own aussie forum at go-matilda. However this is not used enough and I would suggest that the people who genuinely want to find about australia and help others to find out should transfer to the go-matilda forum and leave this forum to pb and co

Fair enough, Alex - you can't please everybody all the time. But bearing in mind that this is the Lifestyle & Culture forum (ie Immigration questions are dealt with elsewhere), once you have bothered to check the archives or ask your new and perspicacious question on cars/ mobiles/ white goods and other machines/ health/ cost of living/ houses/ moving/ airlines/ schools/ exchange rates/ desirable places to live (etc etc you get my drift)...what exactly do forum members want? (Incidentally - the achives are pretty good and many if not most questions have already been addressed.)

I guess many of us just want a sense of camaraderie while we are waiting for the visas or for the big move. Most of what I see is harmless chit chat - off-topic very often, but essentially HARMLESS! I personally feel that most you name are people of generally good will who are not posting maliciously but perhaps as a form of distraction from distraction by distraction. The sometime seemingly negative posts are usually a good reality check. Usually the 'garbage and waffle' is just a few words said in fun or during a bottle of Chardonnay - not intended to harm anyone else.

You are of course entitled to your opinion. But hey! check out this website: www.getasenseofhumour&perspective.com

I forgot to add: sorry if our garbage and waffle has offended you Alex but if you see it in the following context you might just possibly alter your position slightly.

You won't often (if ever?) find PB, Dotty, Wilf, Megalania or myself or even any of our many cronies posting our garbage and waffle (or did I mean wit, repartee and jest?) on the Immigration forum. It stays on Lifestyle & Culture. Unwritten agreement with Peter of ptlabs fame and the Big Guy (Paul) not to clog up the Immigration board and to keep the Usenet lot happy.

So you see, we do recognise when one forum should be serious and when another need not stick so rigidly to a posting formula.

Well said! The vast majority of posting is nothing to do with Australian lifestyle and culture. Too many postings are hijacked for private rants or even worse - slanging matches. There are so many useful experiences and comparisons that could be made, less of the "yes it is - no it's not" bickering.

Can't someone tell us about different towns other than Perth, different destinations, restaurants, driving. walking, holidaying, shopping, work life, banter with work mates. Anything that gives an insight.. PLEASE...

Interesting points made in thread

http://britishexpats.com/forum/showt...hreadid=168418

Goes to show that the majority of readers are feeling that there is indeed a problem. Maybe about time for moderators to step in a little firmer?

More ON topic please...

Thought you'd be on soon with another few pages of waffle don.

But then what can you expect from someone who posts "who wants to see my big dick" on a forum that chldren read?
And yes I'm sure YOU think that is very appropriate on the Australian lifestyle and culture forum.

As for going through the archives there are 2 points-
1/ things change all the time and what was good information several weeks ago may not be the same now

2/ When trying to find out about anything you inevietably have to troll through numerous posts like yours which are nothing to do with the subject

Alex, I think its bit over the top isn't it. We should keep this in perspective and there is an immigration forum for the more serious questions, no one is forcing us to read all this stuff. Surely this forum is meant to be a bit more light hearted I've found many of Don's mails interesting and amusing and even PB's on occasion. Live and live I say.

Fair enough, that WAS a Chardonnay post and one maybe to hang the old head in shame about. (But incidentally, if some of the much worse things my PC throws at me nowadays - when I am on the most innocent of online sessions - is anything to go by (eg very graphic porno pictures), a silly/ rude title and picture of a hamster is nothing to get too Mary Whitehouse about.)

Sorry if my hamster pic + title was offensive. I realise it's too late for your kids but out of respect for decency I have amended the title to read: 'Who'd like to see my hamster Dick?'

But I guess I lost you with my waffle already...

Alex,

Let's not ignite the debate about advertisement again, shall we?

You don't like certain characters on this forum? Put them on your ignore list. Stop complaining and try it. It works.

They're gonna love you in Australia mate "lamb to the slaughter" is a phrase that springs to mind.
I can only echo what others have said there is the Immigration forum for "serious questions" and this forum for the lighter side of things.
As for "big dick" I thought he was cute for a rodent do you have a rodent phobia?

I suppose the genuine thread on marital aids last week wasn't a problem for your children then?

I am firmly with you on this one Alex. the title of the forum id "LIFESTYLE AND CULTURE" "AUSTRALIA AND NEW ZEALAND" can't see any reference to abuse, or comedy or crap....

Suggest the guilty ask for new forum to be set up . How about "complete wits and complete ti**"...
