Should I get in touch?? NZ
Last week I had a really good telephone interview for a perfect job. They were really gushing on the phone and said that if I was their number one candidate they would ask for refs. They did the next day and within five days they refs were with them in NZ, then nothing. I havent heard a bloody word since.
Should I contact them?? I fly to NZ on the 25th of July and would really like to know where I am going to be living.
Am I flapping, should I stay cool and wait???
What do you think??????

I'd send them a quick email asking for an update. Don't be too pushy but just say you're really excited about the opportunity and wondreed whether they are in a position to proceed any further.

Sorry to hear that.
Whenever I get rejected for a job I always ask for an honest opinion as to why I didn't get it so at least you know what to work on next time.

I've extensive experience of job hunting in both NZ and Australia and invaribly if you get the job they come back to you pretty quick, if you don't they seem to pretend you don't exist and forget about you.
So you can keep your hope up for days (even weeks) when someone else already has the job. This to me seem very unproffessional and arrogrant but it seems I'm sorry to say the way most places do it down here.

I've also been in the same situation in NZ (don't know about OZ) - very hopeful about my chances for a job, don't hear back from them and than eventually when I call them I find that the job has already been taken by another candidate. As KiwiPaul says - very rude and unprofessional.
But in my experience it is no different in the UK. I never heard again from most of the organisations that I applied to. Very galling!

Anyone here got a job in NZ from the UK, as a teacher?
I am in a peculiar, I think, position, but to cut a long story short I need to be accepted for a job, even though I cannot guarantee when I would actually be able to start...
Not all that practical in my view, but other people's experiences might reassure me.
thanks

I think Marlyn is a teacher, she didn't get this job but I think she had an offer in the past. As far as I know she arrives in Auckland on Sunday. Perhaps you could send her a private message & just see how she went about it.
