Short let before leaving UK? Sidcup.
Has anyone had a short let, about 3 months, before leaving Uk?
We have a buyer for our house who have already sold so they want ours as soon as possible.
Said no problem we will get a short let until we want to go in January.
Been round the letting agents today, you think estate gents are arrogant twats wait until you meet letting agents, they don't want to know.
6 months minimum and the thought that we are leaving the country made them go all nervous.
Anyone know a solution ?
Especially if you are around Sidcup area.
Can't move in with any relatives.
Don't want to lose buyers.

Have you considered a holiday let/ holiday home? We live quite near the sea in Sussex and have decided that is the most sensible option for us so we dont get screwed into a six month lease.

It's worth ringing around your local letting agents, I do some work for one in this area and he had a rental available for one month!
Definitely worth a try

Good luck.
Good luck.
Unfortunately no holiday lets around here.
What is a licence ?
The agents have all told us that 6 months is the minimum to be covered under assured tenancy law.

What are you looking for? I have a flat in Sidcup that i will be letting out by the middle of next month...could possibly do a short term let on it.

Most landlords prefer a long term tenant but if (like us) their place has been empty for a while they'd probably consider anything.

Hi Kevin
We were in the same situation as you are now....searched everywhere and all agents wanting six month minimum lease. We eventually answered an ad. for a small and new letting agent and she agreed. What she arranged through her lawyer was a codicil to be entered into the lease contract stating that we could be released after a three month period. It cost us £50. to have this done but worth it against the extra cost that holiday lets cost.
Try answering ads in local papers or in the windows of flats to let....just a thought...good luck.
