Default Shipping stuff back to the UK from perth

Has anyone returned to the UK recently and shipped their belongings back from Perth?

I am interested in hearing experiences good and back as well as costs for the relavant companies.

we have requested a quote from Crown and a couple of other firms but I want to know if there are any gotchas and likely scale of charges for a 20 ft or 40 ft container.

One thing to add, if you are going back, brand new motorcycles are extremely expensive in the UK (Honda CBR1000R is $15k drive away here and is 15k Pounds there !!!); if you have owned a bike for more than 6 months before you leave you don't need to pay import duty or tax on it when importing it into the UK if you are moving your permanent place of residence!

We found that shipping back to the Uk was much more flexible and we could pack a lot of the stuff ourselves and the removalists came in and packed the container and sealed it before it left our home and wasn't opened again until it arrived at the other end. We had them pack things like the TV and breakables, but we did books CDs' clothes etc.

It worked out considerably cheaper than paying for full pack although we got a full unpack at the other end. We went with the same people who unpacked us when we arrived first time. (and used them again when we ping ponged a year later!)

Best advice is shop around and think about doing some of the packing up yourself......

it was 4 years ago now, so I can't help with company recommendations, but I didn't want to read and run.
