for those who have done it themselves,
q: have u taken another route ? instead of getting vaccinated first (as suggested by AQIS) , do the blood tests first, and then do the 6 in 1 vaccination after that.
Reason being that the dog will then not fail the blood test and still get protection from the Lepto vac. when they get over to Australia.

as the test is done within 30 days of export getting vaccinations done after a test will only provide minimum cover for the mater of a couple of weeks.
you also have the issue that if you do this (if it's legal - i'll get on to that!) and a dog fails a blood test (as one of mine did) their 2nd test is going to show a level even higher than the first.
re: if this is legal. after the final vet check you have a declaration to sign stating several things including that you're dog has not been mated since blood tests were taken. this may or may not have a caluse about vaccinations but i wouldn't like to get to the final hurdle and find out that it does. making a false declaration is a criminal offence! Also, as I mentioned dogs require that their vaccination certificates be sent to australia with them. so if there is an issue with having vaccinations done after test then you would either have to ask your vet not to note the vaccinations on the dogs record, or take it to a different vet.
all of this is far to much hassle and work when vaccination can be given with water.
the advice from AQIS is that if vaccinations are to be done within 6 months of export lepto should not be included. I had my dogs vaccinations done 8 months prior to export and one of my dogs came back with a positive test, so discuss this thorougly with your vet!

As you know i have been trying to get the dogs as cheap as possible.
The cheapest price i got was £4000.00 :scared:
When i got the quote they told me to bring my border collies to get them measured because they thought i had not done it properly.
The women nearly fainted when she saw the size of them.
I have had cheaper quotes but would i need to take them down to England.

We shipped our cat & dog to Dubai ourselves. Three pointers ensure you know what vaccinations are required as early as possible . We had to have ours vaccinated against Rabies which took several weeks and blood tests.
Book your flight early as airlines will normally only ship one family of animals per flight.
For your dog's benefit get your sky kennel delivered as soon as possible and put your dog's bed in it and shut him/her in it for a slightly longer period each day. By doing this your pet will be less stressed when it comes time to fly him/her out to OZ which is a far longer journey.
Ours had a 3 hour car journey. 4 hour sky cargo check-in, then an 8 hour flight. An hour at the Dubai sky cargo village with vet inspection.
Our cat was more stressed than our dog he wouldn't come out from under the bed for 3 days then wouldn't leave our dog's side for another week constantly touching her for assurance. Our dog was totally unfazed by the whole experience and just wanted to play ball. We were told by the flight crew that they had been loaded and were in the hold (we were on the same flight) and that our dog was barking her head off. They have both settled well and are enjoying living in a hot (43-47c in the summer) climate.
Good luck.

contact your local vet to dicuss blood tests etc (list of which tests need to be done is on the AQIS permit)
contact BA/Qantas cargo for a quote (BA/qantas seem to be the most direct)
provisionally reserve a flight for animal and check with preferred quarantine station if they have space avilable.
if they dook book quarantine and confirm flight
within 30days of export have vet carry out tests
within 96 hours of export have final vet check done and certificate completed.
take dogs to cargo (as detailed on tickets). send with dogs:
aqis permit
defra permit
blood test results
full vaccination records
collect dogs at quarantine 30 days after arrival.
we looked into doing it ourselves but when trying to arrange shipping, our flights, selling car and property etc etc etc it was just becoming too much hassle.
i think the difference if we had done everything ourselves is only maybe a couple of hundred pounds, if that! at the end of the day i had to ask myself if the hassle was really worth it.... and it wasn't so i got a company to do it for me. also when you do it yourself you run the risk of missing something and then not having a lot of time to sort it out!!!!!
