Hi
Now we are nearly in a position to confirm our booking for our shipper (Allied Pickfords) I have just been informed by them that they are forced to increase their prices from 1 May by approx 10%. They didn't say why, but I guess it might be to cover the increased cost of oil these days.
They have stressed that this is an "across the board" increase for all the shippers and not just them!?
Before we actually put pen to paper and sign a contract, does anyone else have any information on this increased charge which we can all well do without!!
Regards
Jim

I have just had 6 quotes from shippers inc Britannia, John Mason, Crown, whites etc. All have said that there will be no further increase in charges as there has recently been a large increase in shipping costs and they don't expect another this year. We had a Pickfords quote about 2 weeks ago with no mention of an increase in may so not sure where thats from. We're probably going with Crown as seem excellent and by the way make sure you haggle you should be able to get a few hundred pounds off
Hope this helps

Hi
We had a quote from PSS in November and spoke to them last week to clarify a few things, they two mentioned an increase, my quote went from £3251 quoted in November to approx £3500 at present. This was for a 20 Ft Container from Berkshire to Perth.

If you had your quote in november then there probably are increases. All the companies have said that there had been high increases. As all our quotes have come in the last 6 weeks i think they will include these increases

The 1st march is when al shipping lines re-adjust their pricing structure, I think they do it every quarter.

Thanks. We have intended to go with Allied Pickfords - since our first attempt some 4 months ago - so from what I have now read from other posters it seems there has been/there will be a susbstantial increase from 1 May, which, for later quotations - like yours - may already have been built in.
Hope you're well?

Sue, email Onkar Sharma ( [email protected] ) for a quote. He quoted us £2750 door - door inc packing (no unpacking though), and we`re not far away from you. Should be cheaper than anyone else though, and their packers are all ex-Crown.
