Default shipping..again..sorry!

Dear all.

I have done a search on this but can't come up with a definative answer!

A) Would a 20ft container be enough for a 4 bed House?
We don't have a lot of clutter but quite a bit of furniture - no way we could afford 40ft so we would have to ditch more stuff!

Anyone moved from a 4 bed house with a 20ft container?

I am going to get some quotes soon - please can someone give me a few good names to try?

...also what about gas BBQs and patio heaters (not too sure if it's worth taking the last one!!) LOL are they ok to take because of the gas..it's quite a big bbq and not that old so don't really want to sel it...and any ideas on wooden garden furniture?

i'd also be interested in hearing, i wouldn't worry about reposting threads again, i can't understand why people respond to a thread just to tell people to do a search, why can't they just give an answer!!!

Hello Maxpaxx,
Our shipping company said we could take a patio heater without the gas canister, I suppose the same would apply for the BBQ but if you need to use a particular type its worth checking you can get it there.
Cant help you much on the container size, we've booked a 20' container between us and my parents but neither of us are taking even half of our furniture. Have you tried any of the online quotes with the shipping companies? They tell you to fill out every item that you're taking and then estimate your cubic feet, that might give you an idea.

Thanks Michaela,

I'll try the online thing.

Do you think you we will need the patio heater then?

Max, we're not sure but we had some space left in our container so we decided to take it anyway, if we were tight for space I expect it'd be one of the first things to be sacrificed.
I think John Mason had a good on-line estimator, could be wrong though, I did so many! Most of the big companies seem to have some version though.

Weve Just had a quote from PSS. We have a 3 double bedroom house + a cellar which doubles as my home office. All of the equipment and furniture is coming with us. They have said that it will all squeese into a 20ft container.

They sent a very detailed iteniary or our contents. The Cost £2,900.

This is door to door London to Adelaide. 2 Weeks free storage in the UK if wanted.
Hope this gives you an idea.

Cheers.

Your Gas canister is a big NO..... and they are even more dangerous when empty !
PSS are booked for 27th,28th and 29th of this month for a 40 foot container full......£4600 + insurance

Depends on where you are moving to as to whether to take the heater or not.........if you're going to Victoria then take it as it does get cold in winter

LOL!!

I don't want to take the gas cannister just the bbq and patio heater! I'm not that tight (although hubby probably is!)

..it's a big difference in cost for a 40ft isn't it. Are you taking absolutely evrything - all the white goods and stuff? We are hoping to go to Perth and I know the evnings get cold there in winter but wondering how much we would use it!

Thanks for this! Does that price include packing and unpacking and delivery in Aus and how much insurance. Are you taking any garden furniture or stuff from the garage?

So many questions - sorry!

Did you have room for the beds? I only have 2 childrens wardrobes which will flat pack I think!

because once you have seen the same things being asked time and time again you know the information is there in the archives and you would get far more info from there than any one poster could give you.

sometimes it is difficult to find but it is there.
