please can i get your advice. we are moving to Townsville in April. have had quotes from pss, Robinsons and Britannia.
the Robinsons and Britannia quote were almost identical (though the vol estimate was diff, 1050cuft and 995cuft respectively). pss have come in at about £800.00 less than the other 2. vol estimated is 823cuft. all are for sole use of a 20ft container.
would you be able to offer us an opinion on any of the above companies?
thanks

we dont deal with Pss, ITS are their agents here in Adelaide, but reading some of the past stories on here, they sound a bit ordinary??. Robinsons, and Brittania seem to do ok, the volume of a 20ft d/g container is about 1050cuft,so robinsons are playing safe.? pss, look like they are keeping the vol, low so as to give you a better price, because they can get more money out of you later when the goods don,t fit:rolleyes: just my theory......:D  MM

Hi there,

I have got a quote from Allied Pickfords for £1700 for 400cubic feet. door to door...........Britannia was slightly dearer, as was anglo pacific.....Pickfords insurance a bit high though at 3.5%.

The guy that came out was superb....we are not taking much but that didnt matter to him, he was very professional...no hard sell, didnt even push the insurance just said it was up to me what i wanted to do.

Made decision!

For any west country folks out there we are going to use Armishaws based in somerset, dorset, wiltshire. 0800 9171015.

Sole use of 40ft £4750.

Miles better than any other quote we have had and they seem very on the ball (at the moment).

Max:)

Had first quote today from Robinsons - Just thought I would share it with those who are interested what a fright we have had!

We used Robinsons including their insurance but wish we hadn't (for insurance anyway - otherwise they were okay) ... a number of items were damaged in transit and nearly five months later we still haven't been paid out!

Part of the reason for the delay is my fault - the insurers insist on us providing quotes for having he damaged items repaired (although most of them are write-offs) but it's so difficult getting people e.g. carpenters, out.

Watch out you don't under insure. In an effort to save a bit we put the value of some of our furniture as much less that it is worth - some of those items are now damaged beyond repair so it's going to cost us even if we do eventually get paid out by Robinsons.

does anyone now if mildew is a problem?
We have a bike trailer ( for towing the children behind bikes). unfortunately it must have been damp, when Mr Bazfer put it away. it now has mildew on the fabric. We have washed it , in the machine and with a power hose. it still looks stained. will it pass aqis, or should we forget about taking it:(
thanks

Has anyone used Harrow Green International for shipping we found the information they sent us helpful and the manager seemed very knowledgeable but no one ever talks about them on this siteI would be happy if anyone had even had a quote from them.

sympathy Thomas I hope you get sorted soon. My isnurers took 13 months to pay out. Same as you, they totally trashed wooden furniture and insisted on having it repaired even tho it meant stripping it back to bare wood and re-finishing it from scratch. The insurance was hardly worth the paper it was written on - especially when you consider that the item in question was shipped from the uk to oz without an ounce of packaging, and had gone from UK house to van to warehouse to container to warehouse to van to new home at other end. We had insured fully but they refused to replace, only repair
