Hello Ben,

I'm the Logistics Manager for a mining company.

We mine and process a natural raw mineral which is sold all over the world.

Yep, even exotic places like Mauritius

Full compliment at the moment mate.
The company is pretty much a new start up.
Shipping containers for now but will be looking to move bulk in the future.
I'm responsible for the whole supply chain including the packaging. Always glad of any contacts if you're in across that sort of business Ben.

yep, and believe me it was worth it. Alot more time spent doing paperwork, packing and making sure everything was done correctly but to us it saved alot of money. And I'd do it again (although I'll never have to)

Right then, I've heard from our container company today and our container has been emptied in to a warehouse and is going to customs on Tuesday 1st Nov. It docked last Friday so has taken 1 week and 1 day to get it unloaded, then another 4 days waiting for customs.Customs clearance is happening quickly so this time next week we should have our stuff.

Don't want to put a downer on you Marie but customs is just the first step.

AQIS (quarantine) look at it after them and that is usually the operation that takes the most time.

There are certain things they always check but if the container has been packed by individuals rather than professional removal companies they tend to check it more thoroughly.

Bix is rihht- iu need aqis after customs - but you can book an Aqis appointment - I dont know about them checking more thoroughly they only looked at 3 boxes of our 20.

your freight handler this end should make an appt with AQIS for a day looking ahead and the aQIS inspection is 20 minutes. They may offer to attend for you or you can attend , they would probably do it for you.

AQIS shouldn't be too bad, as they have appointments booked, whereas Customs work at their own speed. My stuff was 7 weeks waiting for Customs, 25 hours in AQIS - the importers told me it would be through in 1-2 days once Customs had done their bit.

Well customs and aqis have done and dusted with our stuff. We can collect from tomorow. In total from the ship docking it has only taken 13 days from start to finish.

If you need a mover company - mini-movers are recommended by lots of people.
