Default Ship or Post,

Hi guys,

I am only taking personal things that i cannot get rid off, a few examples-
big bag of photos, a few nic naks, a heavy chess set, clothes and the computer(only bought it 2yrs ago for over £600 and is only worth about £100 now so couldn't replace it in Australia)
so is it worth me shipping them or seeing how much it will be to use parcel post in the UK?
the heaviest item will be the computer.
Any advice would be welcome
x

Be careful with photos. We are leaving all our photos with family here cos if we shipped or posted them and lost them we would be gutted.

If we decide to stay then we will DHL them or something.

Hi thanks for the reply,

i am hoping that i can take the photo's on the plane with me in a strong container as i have been told that when you book your tickets if you tell them you are emigrating you get 40k each person rather that the usual 20k.

just looking at boxes on ebay now to see what sort of price we would be paying

Good price - much much cheaper than posting, plus safer and more reliable. Very quick - have used them several times, Bristol to Brisbane takes three days. And they will do a door to door service.

Just used ^ to ship over some excess luggage we had after visiting the UK over Christmas.

Cheapest I could find. 70 odd quid for a 12.5kg box with insurance (50 quid without).

DHL picked the box up from the house in the UK on Friday and it was delivered to our door in Newham (1hr out of Melbourne) on the Wednesday (would have been the Tuesday but that was Australia day).

Had to call them over a couple of things and they were really helpful.

Would highly recommend.

Just got to find an equivalent in Oz now for posting stuff back to the UK.

Cheers

MC
