Shark Attack!

Here in Townsville, Queensland, there is both sharks and crocodiles to worry about when on the open seas. We have bought a small 2 person sailing dingey which capsizes very easily in strong winds. The other day on the way to Magnetic Island in the boat we passed what looked like a log, but close up we saw its eyes - it was a Saltwater crocodile! They are known to be more of a threat than sharks here, they are more efficient killers. Makes you wary about windsurfing or swimming too far out!

placed on them and if they come close to beaches they should be shot. If you are one of these environmentalist greenies against
sharks being shot put yourself in this situation,
you are in the ocean and an enormous great whte shark is about
to bite you in half, and there is a man on a boat nearby with a gun pointed at the shark and about to shoot it, would you stick by your environmentalist principles and tell the man not to shoot the shark and to let it eat you, l don't think so.

The GW's have been basically hunted for years, and dwindling numbers, the protection order came in just under 7 years ago now in Aus because of the dwindling numbers of the GW. .
You have a choice whether to be in the water - sharks haven't
To get that one shark.. you have to kill all Gw's in the area., close to where the man was killed .. to find the shark with human remains in it. The shark is probably long gone by now if history is anything to go by.
Why don't you take a gun to all drunk drivers - they kill far more people than sharks, and are a menace.
killing all sharks next to the shore is fruitless.. have you any idea how many sharks come in close to the shore at night? kill one day, it won't stop more coming in - it is fruitless.. and just a mass blood killing spree to douse public fears
cheers

While we are at it....we could electronically tag all redback spiders, and funnel webs, and tai-pans, and tiger snakes, and red bellied blacks, and browns, and kings, and copperheads, and adders, and box jellies, and bluebottles, and saltwater crocs, and dingos, and rampant rabid kangaroos...
Why not eh? All of these probably pose as much of a threat if you invade thier environment as a great white.
Wombat....NO....i'm not a greenie. I go fishing. I go rabbit shooting. I eat all kinds of meat. I wipe my bum with toilet paper not produced from sustainable resources. I do however know that that the great white is as much a part of the global ecosystem as you or I, and i respect that. When i take a dip in the big blue, i realise that its THIER world i am entering.
As Ceri said....what about the human dangers to your good health? I bet they are far more likely to kill you than a great white. Are you going to electronically tag half the muggers/drink drivers/smokers in oz, then shoot the other half?

I'd rather be one of those 'environmentalist greenies' than a total idiot like you.

In the water you are all far more likely to drown in a rip yet you will all go swimming. The not so bright will go swimming outside the flags. Looks great when its hot but Aussies and tourists alike get ripped away.
Leave the sharks alone.
The key for surfers is to hang around in numbers. The more people you are with the less likely to get bit.
Petey shooting rabbits is good for the environment, along with shooting feral pigs, cats and dogs. Ya bloody tree hugger,

How about human goes into foreign environment at own peril???I suppose you supported the mass killing of salties in the 60s and 70s because of the risk to humans?

Apparently this goes against popular expert knowledge.
This guy was a shark hunter and I think he saw himself as a bit of a Robert Shaw character.
He was claiming "you've now got *2* big sharks out in the water with a taste for humans"
After a lucrative contract me thinks.
