If anyone in Sydney is reading this now (5pm Sydney time), take note of the advice marked in bold...
Severe thunderstorms are forecast to affect Hornsby, Parramatta, Ryde and Terrey Hills by 5:10 PM and Stadium Australia, the Sydney Harbour Bridge, Sydney City and Sydney Airport by 5:40 PM .

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Move your car under cover or away from trees.
* Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony.
* Keep clear of fallen power lines.
* Keep clear of creeks and storm drains.
* Don't walk, ride your bike or drive through flood water.
* Unplug computers and appliances.
* Avoid using the phone during the storm.
* Stay indoors away from windows, and keep children and pets indoors as well.
* For emergency help in floods and storms, ring your local SES Unit on 13 2500.

Sunshine is out. Glad I left on time and avoided driving in this. Leaving now would probably give me an hour and 30 min journey.

Sky did go very black. Didn't last too long but we had no power from 3.55 'til 8.35. Not bad considering the mess some were in.
